Anna Afshar Art

ARTIST STATEMENT

I paint to fulfill my passion for the world around me. My art is mostly representational, yet impressionistic and the abstract elements in the subjects are what inspire me to paint them. Colors of the sunset or of the blooming flower, the bounce of light on water, the magnificence of the city's skyline, the beauty of human faces and intricacies of its form: all are intriguing shapes, startling contrasts and beautiful lines that capture my heart and imagination. I paint how I feel it and hope to pass this feeling to the viewer.

Every painting is also a story: the story I create and  the story of the moment the painting comes to life. It may be a fleeting moment on the city's street, a person I met during my many travels  or something that simply caught my attention as an observer. There is no limit to inspiration!

TESTIMONIALS

Lori Earnshaw,
Louisville KY

"The flowers you painted so beautifully have special meaning for me—my family home had pink peony bushes lining the driveway, and they bloomed every Mother’s Day, so make me think of the influential women in my family, mother and grandmothers.

We had a garden of red poppies and daisies populating the front of our mountain home in Colorado, my favorite place on earth. Your art is beautiful, and it reminds me of cherished people and places in my life."

"Anna's classes have been huge source of inspiration and motivation"
Tracy and Bill McKee,

"Tracy and I have been looking for at least the last two years for a painting that captures our love of travel in a way that we both love.  As you say, art is a very personal thing and that holds true even if you have been married for 26 years.  That being said, as soon as we came into your studio we immediately knew we found what we had been searching for"

"I DO love the peonies in our dining room. It brought life and color to the room—it grounds the space and makes one stop to look, rather than pass through a sea of neutrals.  The metallic frame compliments the silver-grey and gold threads in the window treatment too.  Thank you for helping me to find the right piece for that space.  I needed your guidance, and I couldn’t be happier."

"My husband has cried 3 times in the 30 years I’ve known him. When I gave him the painting, it was the 4th. He loved it!!! I have found him each day standing in front of it just taking it all in. Thank you for creating such a beautiful piece of art that’s so special to my family"
